Picking up a camera for the first time in 1971 changed my life. Within two years I was photographing rock concerts and selling the photos. My first camera was a Pentax SP500 with a 50mm f2.0 lens, purchased for about $150 from Sears. My second lens was a 135mm f2.5 lens, the same week that I lucked out with front row seats to a Grateful Dead concert. I eventually moved on to the Nikon F2 with 85mm F1.8 lens. I learned by spending every day taking pictures, a great many around New York City's Chinatown which was a few blocks from where I worked at my first job in lower Manhattan. The file numbers for the pictures are in the order I randomly scanned my film, not chronological.
